America the Way I See It

March 23, 2006 / by bogart21

This is in response to an email I got about one of my blogs.

There are two ways to see America. The way I see it, a great country with its share of good and bad but more good then bad, or a country that is more bad then good. I think most liberals focus on the bad wile most conservatives focus on the good. You would have to be totally blind to see only one side, or stupid.

Here is how I look at it. Yes America has its share of greed, corruption and just bad people but the bad, would be here no matter who ran this country. When you switch parities in Washington, you are just switching the people involved in the corruption. And it does not matter what type of government we have the bad would still be there. It is human nature. But the good about America, the freedoms we all enjoy, the strong economy, the standard of living second to none is because of the blood and sweat of the American people. The brave men and women in uniform that have died or are willing to lay down their lives for us, people who have sacrificed for their families so their kids could have a better life, the American worker who put in the extra hours to provide more for his or her family. And yes the American business man who strives to bring quality products to us to make our lives better. So what if he gets rich does it! No matter what some people say, becoming rich thru your own hard work and skills is still the American dream. It is my dream. I want to be one of the evil rich! The same people who walk around saying how bad and corrupt big business is are the same people walking around with their iPods and PDA. It is because of the American business man that you can afford these things.

Even most of the poor in this country are better off then the middle class in some countries. If you checked 1000 people on the welfare rolls, how many families would have 1 or more colored TV’s and a car. To people in some countries, just having a car would make them rich.

When I was in the Navy I was in a port were I met some Russian sailors that were on a port stop also. We talked about our respective countries and the Russians could not believe my wife and I each had a car. Not only that I could afford it but that we were allowed to have our own cars.

To me it this country is worth fighting for. This is not about Iraq. That is another subject. This is about the crap I have heard from the Anti-American left since long before Iraq. Even with their beloved Clinton in office they were still trashing this country. America is the greatest country on the face of the earth and I will gladly lay down my life to protect her and her people. And I did for 20 years. That is why as long as there are liberals trashing my country I will fight them with a loud voice and continue this blog. Just try and keep me off.

You hear arrogant men ranting and raving proudly proclaiming what they know nothing about. Man likes to go to war, it's in our fallen nature. I agree, this country is worth fighting for, cuz it's the only nation that people have some freedom still left; enjoy it while you can, because some idiot will screw it all up.

There are groups that have the word scoalist in the title. Just do a web search on the word and you will see groups here in America. Who do you think they align themseves with. Libs or conservatives? Remember I did not say all liberals are anti-American but conservatives do not align the Nazi flag with the stars and stripes. And don't say Rush is. He is more pro-American then most conservatives. It is ok to dissagree, but trashing your country is not the same thing as trying to invoke change. The fact that we have a constitution and bill of rights that allow us to talk about the government and change what needs to be changed is one of the things that makes America great.

Disagreeing with the policies of an administration is NOT disagreeing or trashing one's couontry. The United States of America is, indeed, a great country. And we keep telling ourselves this, over and over. Let me ask some questions: Are we the only country which is free? That allows free speech? That allows a person to follow his/her dream? Countroes like Canada, Breat Britain, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Italy, France all have the freedoms we boast of. Now, telll me, where do we go from there?

Six of the countries you cited do not have free speech. That is where we go from there.

Great message. Many of us who served are disheartened by the way our soldiers are being treated by the press, and the extreme anti-war left. Most of my liberal friends support the troops and some support the war on terror. I too would gladly lay down my life to defend this nation yet again and if terrorist strike in this country again, you better believe there is an organized sector of this society that is ready to defend life and liberty.

Never once in this blog did I say that disagreeing was not ok. Disagreeing with the administration is not trashing your country. If that were the case I would of been concidered a traitor when Clinton and Carter were in office. I do not agree with everything George Bush does. The issue is not George Bush. When you make a coralation between the Nazi flag and the American flag over politics is what gets my hair standing up. And as for the other free countries, they modeled themsevels after us becasue it works so well here. We were free men before any of them. Besides France in not a representative republic, they are socolist and we see how well that is working for them. Socalisim and a repersentative republic can not coexsist, Our system puts the individual first. Socalisim is about the group being more important.
